Gordon Murray S1 LM supercar sold for a record $20.6 million in Las Vegas

In a landmark sale for the automotive world, a Gordon Murray S1 LM supercar was auctioned for an astonishing $20.6 million. Taking place during the Las Vegas Formula One weekend, the sale establishes a new global record for the most expensive new car ever sold at auction, excluding charitable donations.
The dramatic arrival of the supercar set the tone for the historic evening. It was flown into the amfAR Gala Dinner at the Wynn Las Vegas, suspended beneath a helicopter, in an entrance that was as exclusive as the car itself. Fierce bidding from collectors at the event and from around the globe culminated in the multi-million-dollar hammer price at the auction itself.
The winning bidder is set to enjoy an experience as exclusive as the car itself. They will have the rare opportunity to work alongside its creator, Professor Gordon Murray CBE, to personally shape their bespoke S1 LM. This unparalleled customer journey will also include development drives with racing legend Dario Franchitti and direct involvement in the final engineering of the vehicle.
Only five S1 LMs will ever be built, making it a spiritual successor to Murray's legendary McLaren F1 LM. It features a bespoke 720 hp V12 engine that revs to an astonishing 12,100 rpm, and its body is constructed entirely from ultra-lightweight carbon fibre.
