Audi has unveiled the third generation of its large Q7 SUV. The new model features a more angular design, updated lighting technology and a new six-seat layout. Production of the model will continue in Bratislava, Slovakia, with European showroom availability from September.

Measuring 5.06 metres in length, the new Q7 is available with five, six or seven seats. For the first time, buyers can opt for two individual seats in the second row to create a six-seater configuration, which Audi claims offers enhanced business-class comfort. The seven-seat layout remains available and can accommodate three child seats in the second row.

Power comes from a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with mild-hybrid technology. Two options are available: 299 hp with 630 Nm of torque or 245 hp with 500 Nm. An electric-powered compressor provides immediate throttle response, while a belt alternator starter can temporarily add up to 24 hp. Quattro permanent all-wheel drive with a new limited-slip centre differential comes as standard.

The interior features a new centre console with dual wireless phone charging and extra-large cup holders. Top-spec versions feature a large panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency instead of the traditional roller blind. This five-seater offers 806 litres of luggage space, which expands to 2,075 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

Exterior updates include digital Matrix LED headlights and third-generation OLED rear lights with up to eight selectable light signatures. A new projection light now casts a white rhombus onto the ground when the doors are opened. The turn signals are now also projected onto the road surface.

Pricing in Germany starts at €87,900 for the 245 hp model and €90,500 for the 299 hp version. In Europe, the Q7 will compete directly with the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE and Volvo XC90. Audi has not yet announced a plug-in hybrid variant, instead focusing on the refined V6 diesel for the launch.
