Modern infotainment upgrades for older 911, Boxster and Cayman models

Do you love your older Porsche, but find that the sat-nav is no longer suitable for everyday use? Or would you like apps for streaming audio? Porsche has introduced a new generation of its PCCM Plus infotainment system, bringing modern technology to older 911, Boxster and Cayman models. This upgrade is intended for owners of the 987.2, 997.2, 981 and 991.1 generations.

The system replaces the original factory radio with a 7-inch touchscreen that fits perfectly into the dashboard. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav with satellite imagery and wireless map updates, plus a ‘Scenic Roads' feature that suggests enjoyable winding routes. There is also 4G support, which may make it possible to watch YouTube whilst parked.

Unlike other aftermarket systems, the PCCM Plus integrates seamlessly with the car's existing systems. It can be operated via the steering wheel controls (where fitted) and navigation instructions or music tracks can be displayed on the instrument panel.

The system is available in two versions: one for cars from 2012-2016 and one for models from 2009-2013. Prices for Europe have not yet been announced, but the system is expected to be launched in early 2027.

For owners who still have to make do with the original, grainy LCD screen, this is a nice upgrade that doesn't detract from the original interior.
