From the battlefield to Newport: Ultra-rare military G-Wagen transformed for luxury market

A piece of military automotive history is making its exclusive debut on the lawns of Newport's famed Audrain Concours: one of only 60–70 airdrop-ready Mercedes-Benz G-Wagens ever built for the Singaporean Army.
London-based Arcade Cars has unveiled its most ambitious project to date: a meticulously restored open-top 240 GD. Just 10 bespoke examples are available to the world's most discerning collectors.
Founded in 2023, Arcade Cars specialises in taking the battle-hardened, utilitarian icons loved for their rugged simplicity and reimagining them as unique luxury statements. This particular 240 GD model is one of the rarest of its kind, originally designed to be parachuted into combat zones.

Transforming it from a military workhorse into a concours-ready luxury vehicle is a painstaking process. Arcade’s master artisans employ a six-phase restoration process that can take hundreds of hours per vehicle.
Clients can choose from a range of luxury leathers or adventure-ready synthetics for the spartan cabin, as well as modern audio systems and bespoke overlanding equipment.

Despite these luxury enhancements, Arcade emphasises preserving the vehicle’s authentic character and rugged capability - a key factor for enthusiasts who cherish the classic G-Wagen driving experience.
