On the winding roads of Provence, DS Automobiles' new flagship - the N°8 electric coupé SUV - is proving that range anxiety and austere EV design need not apply. With a range of up to 750 km (WLTP) from its 97.2 kWh French-made battery and a silhouette as sharp as a tailored Dior suit, this avant-garde driving machine is redefining electric mobility with Parisian flair.
This begins with the LUMINASCREEN grille, a digital canvas of 1,024 LEDs that 'wakes up' as the owner approaches, and continues into the cabin where Nappa leather meets laser-cut Focal speaker grilles hidden in aluminium door panels. Front passengers can relax in massaging seats with neck warmers, while the X-shaped steering wheel and 16-inch central screen boast an interface so intuitive that DS claims it 'thinks like a smartphone'.
With 375 hp in all-wheel drive guise and 160 kW charging, the N°8 backs up its aesthetics with French engineering. An active suspension scans the road 15 times per second and DS Night Vision can spot pedestrians 300 metres ahead in the dark. Even charging is a spectacle: the charge port door opens automatically at familiar stations and bidirectional technology turns the car into a mobile power bank for your home.
Would you choose this car over a German one purely for its design? Let's discuss it!
