Bugatti has announced the completion of the final "Bolide", marking the end of the four-year development and production programme of this track-only hypercar. The 40th and final car has now left the company's atelier in Molsheim, France.

The project began in August 2021 with the aim of transforming a radical 'what if' concept car into a production reality. The development process involved extensive track testing, including a significant run at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, where a prototype reached 350 km/h on the famous Mulsanne Straight.

A key challenge for Bugatti was to ensure that, while the Bolide was designed for extreme track performance, it also met the brand's high standards for long-term quality and finish. Bugatti stated that creating a car built for the rigours of the racetrack that could also be a collectible required a new level of dedication from its production teams.

The final car was commissioned by a long-standing Bugatti collector who requested a bespoke blue colour scheme inspired by his historic Bugatti Type 35. This final Bolide completes a personal trilogy for the owner, who also took delivery of the last Veyron Grand Sport.

With all 40 examples now built, the Bolide project has concluded. Powered by Bugatti's quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the car was developed exclusively for circuit use.
