How bidding in an auction works
The text below only applies to items sold as auctions. Want to know how to buy fixed price items? Then have a look here.
To participate in bidding on Breaqs.com, you'll first need to create an account. To ensure a safe and secure environment for both our buyers and sellers, we ask that you verify your mobile number with a free one-time SMS code, bank account verification or a valid credit card.
Once you have registered, you can simply place your bids by entering the amount you wish to bid in Euros in the box provided. Please note that in addition to your bid amount, there will be an auction fee and any delivery or postage costs.
Some sellers may set a reserve price for their items. If this reserve price is not met during the auction, it will be displayed as 'The current bid is below the reserve price'. If the auction ends without the reserve price being met, the item will not be sold.
Most frequently asked questions
In an auction we use a minimum next bid. The amount of the next bid depends on the current bid:
Current bid:
- Less than € 100,- : next bid at least 1% of the previous bid. So if the previous bid is 50 €, then the minimum next bid is 50.50 €.
- Between € 100,- and € 500,-: next bid at least € 5,- higher than the previous bid, rounded up to the next 5 euros.
- Between € 500,- and € 1.000,-: next bid at least € 10,- higher than the previous bid, rounded up to the next 10 euros.
- Between € 1.000,- and € 5.000,-: next bid at least € 25,- higher than the previous bid, rounded up to the next 25 euros.
- Between € 5.000,- and € 10.000,-: next bid at least € 50,- higher than the previous bid, rounded up to the next 50 euros.
- Higher than € 10.000,-: next bid at least € 100,- higher than the previous bid, rounded up to the next 100 euros.
Occasionally you'll see bids go up by less. This means that someone else has placed a bid slightly higher than your automatic bid.
Tip: You can also always see the minimum next bid in the "Bid directly" button
The total cost of buying at our auctions, in addition to the price of the item, is the auction fee, Breaqs.com insurance and transaction fee, which totals 5% of the purchase price (with a minimum of € 25.000,-, and a maximum of € 500.000,-), plus any shipping costs added at the time of final payment.
Any other costs or charges such as customs or import duties, customs clearance and handling may also apply during shipment of your lot and will be charged to you at a later stage if applicable.
Any other costs or charges such as duties, import or export taxes, customs clearance, vehicle registration and handling are not included and may be incurred while your lot is being shipped and may be charged to you at a later date.
Once a bid has been placed, it becomes binding. You are required to purchase any lot you win for the amount you've bid. By placing a bid, you agree to our Terms and Conditions and Terms and conditions for bidding and buying.
An auction officially ends when the timer runs out - but if a bid is placed in the last 30 seconds, the auction is extended for another 60 seconds. This continues until no more bids are placed.
Yes, you can! Our automatic bidding feature makes bidding effortless. Simply enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay and click "Place bid". We'll automatically increase your bid in small increments to keep you in the lead - but never above the limit you set.
If someone else bids higher, we'll let you know straight away and give you the chance to adjust your maximum bid if you wish.
When setting your maximum bid, don't forget to include any applicable auction fees and shipping costs. At Breaqs.com we aim to make the bidding process simple, fair and transparent for everyone.
If you were outbid as soon as you placed your bid, it's probably because another bidder is using automatic bidding with a higher maximum than yours. Their auto bid immediately increased to stay ahead.
To take the lead, consider raising your maximum bid. This will increase your chances of winning the item.
