Toyota Corolla celebrates its 60th anniversary with special anniversary editions

The Toyota Corolla has just turned 60 and with over 57 million units sold across 12 generations, it remains the world's best-selling car model. To celebrate this milestone, Toyota is launching special 60^(th)-anniversary editions of the Hatchback, Touring Sports and Saloon models, all of which are built in Europe.

The anniversary models are easily recognisable. The Hatchback and Touring Sports, which are built in the United Kingdom, come in a new Boreal Blue metallic colour with a contrasting black roof. They also feature matt silver trim, 17-inch wheels and subtle 60^(th) Anniversary decals and door sills. The Saloon, which is built in Turkey, features its own Lunar Sky Blue paint finish and a silver strip on the boot lid. Specifications include a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.5-inch touchscreen with the latest Toyota infotainment system.
The Corolla has been a fixture on European roads for decades, with nearly 9.5 million units sold. Production in the UK dates back to 1998 and the Burnaston factory has been building hybrid versions of the Hatchback and Touring Sports since 2010. Meanwhile, the Saloon is produced in Adapazari, Turkey.
For enthusiasts, the anniversary also serves as a reminder of the AE86: the rear-wheel-drive Corolla from the 1980s that gained cult status thanks to its rev-happy 1.6-litre engine, light weight and tendency to drift. Toyota's GAZOO Racing division continues to support AE86 owners with original parts and the car's popularity shows no sign of waning. A hydrogen-powered concept model was recently unveiled in Japan.
The Corollas marking the 60^(th) anniversary are now available to order, with deliveries set to begin at the end of October.
