Porsche has expanded its ever-growing 911 line-up with the new GT3 S/C: a convertible version of the high-revving GT3. It combines the 510 hp, 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six engine from the GT3 with a fully automatic fabric roof. This is the first time that a GT3 has been offered with an electrically operated convertible top.

The engine revs to 9,000 rpm and produces 450 Nm of torque, which is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Porsche claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313 km/h.

Despite the roof mechanism, weight is kept to 1,497 kg thanks to lightweight components borrowed from the limited-run 911 S/T. These include carbon fibre body panels, magnesium wheels, a lithium-ion battery and carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. The car is a pure two-seater, similar to the 2019 911 Speedster.

Unlike the Speedster, the GT3 S/C is not a limited edition. Porsche says it will be a regular addition to the GT family and is available to order now. An optional Street Style Package adds decorative graphics, a two-tone leather interior and a wooden gear knob.

The 911 GT3 S/C joins the wide range of existing 911 models, including the Carrera, Targa, Turbo, GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 Touring and S/T.

Deliveries to European customers are expected to begin later this year. Although pricing has not yet been announced for all markets, rumours suggest that the price in Europe will be approximately €275,000.
