Porsche has set a new lap record for electric vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. A Taycan Turbo GT equipped with an optional Manthey kit completed the 20.832 km circuit in 6 minutes and 55.553 seconds. This time is over nine seconds faster than the previous record for luxury electric vehicles, and 12 seconds quicker than a standard Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package.
Developed jointly by Porsche's Weissach development centre and Manthey engineers, the Manthey Kit adds extensive modifications to the electric saloon. Compared to the standard car, downforce has increased more than threefold, from 95 kg to 310 kg at 200 km/h, thanks to a new rear wing, optimised front and rear diffusers, and carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels.
For the first time, the kit also includes powertrain upgrades. The maximum discharge current from the high-voltage battery has increased from 1,100 to 1,300 amps, raising the system output by 20 kW to 600 kW (804 hp). Attack Mode temporarily increases power to 730 kW (978 hp). The suspension, including the Porsche Active Ride system and rear-axle steering, has been recalibrated and larger 440 mm brakes have been fitted.
The kit also includes new 21-inch forged aluminium wheels with track-focused tyres measuring 305 mm wide at the front and 325 mm wide at the rear.
The Manthey Kit will soon be available as a factory option for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package for European customers. Pricing has not yet been announced.
