The first fully electric version of the C-Class from Mercedes-Benz is set to redefine the mid-size sedan segment. Combining a coupé-like silhouette with a range of up to 762 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, the new model is one of the longest-range electric saloons in its class.

The launch model is the C 400 4MATIC, which features dual motors producing 360 kW and all-wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds. The car uses 800-volt technology, enabling DC charging at up to 330 kW. According to Mercedes, a 10-minute charge can add up to 325 kilometres of range. A rear-wheel-drive version with an even greater range is set to follow next year.

Inside, the C-Class features a 99.3-centimetre MBUX Hyperscreen spanning the dashboard. It runs on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and has a virtual assistant powered by generative AI. Optional extras include a panoramic roof with 162 illuminated stars and a 101-litre front trunk (frunk). The car also has a towing capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes.

Standard features include AIRMATIC air suspension with predictive damping that uses Car-to-X data from other Mercedes vehicles to adjust for upcoming speed bumps. Rear-axle steering with up to 4.5 degrees of turning reduces the turning circle to 11.2 metres.

For European buyers, the electric C-Class will compete directly with the Tesla Model 3, the new BMW i3 and the upcoming Audi A4 e-tron. Production will begin at Mercedes' Bremen plant, with the car being launched first in the US before expanding to other regions. Pricing and full European availability will be announced closer to the launch date.
