Audi has officially entered Formula 1, with the German manufacturer set to make its competitive debut at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. The Audi Revolution F1 Team, featuring drivers Nico Hülkenberg and rookie Gabriel Bortoleto, is the first full factory team that the four-ring brand has competed with in Formula 1.
This coincides with the unveiling of the new Audi RS 5 in the southern hemisphere at Albert Park, highlighting the connection between the brand's road car technology and motorsport. Both the race car and the new RS 5 feature hybrid powertrains, with nearly 50 percent of the power of the F1 car coming from electrical energy.
But will they beat four-time world champion Max Verstappen anytime soon? Probably not, but every giant leap starts with a first step.
