Wait, is the Renault 4 back? And is it kind of a badass?
Debuting at Roland Garros-because nothing says "rugged exploration" like a tennis tournament, the Savane 4x4 is Renault’s cheeky nod to the original 1960s Renault 4 Savane. That car was basically the French answer to the Land Rover - if the Land Rover were also really good at hauling baguettes.
This modern reboot keeps the charm but adds all-wheel drive, raised suspension, and chunky Goodyear tires because, apparently, "gentleman explorers" nowadays demand both mud-plugging ability and aesthetic excellence.
What makes it special?
Two electric motors and permanently active all-wheel drive mean this little beast won’t flinch at dirt, snow, or your in-laws’ poorly maintained driveway.
Raised and widened: 15 mm more ground clearance and 10 mm wider tracks, because getting stuck is so last century.
Jade green and gloss black: because if you’re going off-road, you might as well look like a luxury safari guide.
Deep brown quilted interior: The seats are stitched with tiny, hidden "4" patterns because subtle flexing is an art form.
3D-printed bumpers are shock-absorbing and futuristic. Oui.
Is this the most stylish electric off-roader ever?
Probably. Sandeep Bhambra, Renault’s design boss, calls it a "chic spirit for limitless journeys," which we're pretty sure means "it'll look great covered in mud."
If you dream of crossing the Alps in a vehicle that also looks good parked outside a Parisian café, the Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Concept might be your perfect match.
